Circuit Analysis with Multisim

This book is concerned with circuit simulation using National Instruments Multisim.

It focuses on the use and comprehension of the working techniques for electrical and electronic circuit simulation.
The first chapters are devoted to basic circuit analysis.
It starts by describing in detail how to perform a DC analysis using only resistors and independent and controlled sources.
Then, it introduces capacitors and inductors to make a transient analysis.
In the case of transient analysis, it is possible to have an initial condition either in the capacitor voltage or in the inductor current, or both.
Fourier analysis is discussed in the context of transient analysis.
Next, we make a treatment of AC analysis to simulate the frequency response of a circuit.
Then, we introduce diodes, transistors, and circuits composed by them and perform DC, transient, and AC analyses.
The book ends with simulation of digital circuits.
A practical approach is followed through the chapters, using step-by-step examples to introduce new Multisim circuit elements, tools, analyses, and virtual instruments for measurement.
The examples are clearly commented and illustrated.
The different tools available on Multisim are used when appropriate so readers learn which analyses are available to them.
This is part of the learning outcomes that should result after each set of end-of-chapter exercises is worked out.

PCB Design Tutorial


You've designed your circuit, perhaps even bread boarded a working prototype, and now it's time to turn it into a
nice Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design. For some designers, the PCB design will be a natural and easy
extension of the design process. But for many others the process of designing and laying out a PCB can be a
very daunting task. There are even very experienced circuit designers who know very little about PCB design,
and as such leave it up to the "expert" specialist PCB designers. Many companies even have their own
dedicated PCB design departments. This is not surprising, considering that it often takes a great deal of
knowledge and talent to position hundreds of components and thousands of tracks into an intricate (some say
artistic) design that meets a whole host of physical and electrical requirements. Proper PCB design is very often
an integral part of a design. In many designs (high speed digital, low level analog and RF to name a few) the
PCB layout may make or break the operation and electrical performance of the design. It must be remembered
that PCB traces have resistance, inductance, and capacitance, just like your circuit does.

This article is presented to hopefully take some of the mystery out of PCB design. It gives some advice and
“rules of thumb” on how to design and lay out your PCBs in a professional manner. It is, however, quite difficult to
try and “teach” PCB design. There are many basic rules and good practices to follow, but apart from that PCB
design is a highly creative and individual process. It is like trying to teach someone how to paint a picture.
Everyone will have their own unique style, while some people may have no creative flair at all!

Indeed, many PCB designers like to think of PCB layouts as works of art, to be admired for their beauty and
elegance. “If it looks good, it’ll work good.” is an old catch phrase.

قال حلمي عن سبب تسميت كتابه بـ 28 حرفا ، إنه عند انتهائه من الكتاب كان محتارا في تسميته ، وجاء في ذهنه أن أفضل اسم له هو 28 حرفا ، لأن ذلك هو عدد الحروف الأبجدية ، ولا يمكن أن يخرج أي اسم أو عنوان عن هذه الأحرف .
وأضاف أن الكتاب عبارة عن مجموعة من المقالات التي قام بكتابتها منذ عام 2009 حتى عام 2010، و من ضمن هذه المقالات مقالة تحكي قصة حياته عندما تمنى العيش في القاهرة بعدما كان يعيش في " بنها " .
وأكد أحمد حلمي أنه حتى الآن لم يقرر الخوض في كتابة كتب أخرى ، وكل ذلك يرجع إلى رد فعل الجمهور على
كتابه الحالي .

و أوضح أنه سعيد عندما شهد هذا الكم الكبير من الجمهور ، وأنه كان غير متوقع لذلك .
و أهدى حلمي أول كتاب له إلى روح والده ، و كتب في مقدمته أبى . . أين أنت ؟ هل تراني كما أراك دوما في منامي ؟ رحمك الله
